SAC 2019 “Mountain to Coast” – Registration Starts 5th May 2019, 5:00pm. More and new race categories in 2019: Duathalon, Trail Run and MTB. Sarawak Adventure Challenge 2019 (12th October 2019).
This year’s challenge combines the excitement and demands of XC MTB and trail running in the beachside town of Lundu, 98km from Kuching, near the Tip of Borneo. In response to requests for more variety in the format, for 2019 the SAC has expanded a number of categories to include (in addition to the main team events) an individual duathlon, as well as individual MTB and individual Trail Run categories.
The route will cover an exhilarating 52 km, in the vicinity of Lundu, with the perfect brew of Sarawak’s spectacular mountains, rainforest and scenic coastal trails. The race will start and finish near Siar Beach with trails extending around Gunung Gading, a national park famous for the world’s biggest flower, the Rafflesia.
Billed as one of the toughest adventure challenges in the region, the event comes with new theme each year reflecting the venue it is held. The inaugural edition was called ‘The Lost Mines’ whereas the 2018 one was named ‘The Sacred Mountain’. The 2018 edition expanded by a number of categories to include (in addition to the main team events) an individual duathlon, as well as individual MTB and individual Trail Run categories.
