Sustainable Development Policy
Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) is committed to managing events within the scope of its Event Sustainability Management System (ESMS) in a sustainable manner that delivers positive environmental, social, cultural, and economic outcomes while minimising adverse impacts.
We strive to:
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Reduce the environmental impact of our operations and events through responsible resource management, waste reduction, and climate-conscious practices.
- Protect and celebrate Sarawak’s diverse cultural heritage while ensuring authentic and respectful representation.
- Support local communities and businesses by promoting inclusive economic opportunities and responsible procurement.
- Provide safe, accessible, and positive experiences for employees, partners, participants, and visitors.
- Engage stakeholders and encourage collaboration to advance sustainable tourism and event management.
- Continuously monitor, review, and improve our sustainability performance through our Event Sustainability Management System (ESMS) aligned with ISO 20121.
- Contribute to national, state, and global sustainability goals, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), National Tourism Policy 2030, Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), Sarawak 2030 Sustainability Blueprint, and Sarawak Tourism Masterplan 2035.
This policy applies to all STB employees, contractors, vendors, partners, and stakeholders involved in the planning and delivery of STB events and activities.
STB is committed to continual improvement and to positioning Sarawak as a leading responsible and sustainable tourism destination.
